This 7-day, 6-night Ayurveda retreat is at Earth Roots Ayurveda in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Mornings begin with yoga and pranayama in a hall with mountain views. Through the day you meet the Ayurvedic doctors, have your therapies, and eat three fresh sattvic meals, with detox juices and herbal teas. Therapies and the diet plan are set by the doctor according to your Prakriti, your body constitution. The programme may include abhyanga, swedana, virechana, basti, shirodhara and nasya. Guided meditation and nature walks fill out the day. Earth Roots describes itself as a quiet Ayurvedic centre, not a spa or luxury resort, and it welcomes first-timers. Guests with health conditions should speak with their doctor and with the centre first.

Itinerary

1. Daily schedule

   Wake-up at 6:00 AM, then jal neti and mantra chanting. Yoga asana, pranayama and meditation run from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, followed by breakfast. A one-hour Ayurvedic therapy session is held from 10:30 AM, then free time and lunch at 1:00 PM. Evening yoga and pranayama run from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, dinner is at 7:00 PM, and a walk follows. Sleep is at 10:00 PM.
