Vastu Shanti Puja is a traditional Hindu ritual for a home or workplace, held on the Shipra river in Ujjain. Families do it ahead of moving into a new house, after renovation work, or to address Vastu doshas. The puja seeks the blessings of Vastu Purush, the guardian of the directions, and the deities of the five elements, and is traditionally linked with peace, prosperity and harmony. The priest begins with Ganesh Puja and installs the Kalash. Mantras are chanted to invite positive energy, and flowers, rice and holy water are offered in worship of Vastu Purush. Sodashmantrik Puja is performed to balance the effects of the planets, followed by Vastu Dosh Puja and Vaastu Homam. The puja ends with aarti and the sharing of prasad.
