Shrapit Dosh Nivaran Puja is performed at Ram Ghat on the Shipra river in Ujjain. The word Shrapit means one who has been cursed. In astrology, Shrapit Dosh, also called Shrapit Yog, is linked to a conjunction of Shani with Ketu. Some texts describe it as a Shani and Rahu influence instead. It is seen as a karmic dosh, tied to unfinished deeds of past lives or family karma. People with this dosh are said to face repeated obstacles, delays, unease, trouble in career and relationships, and money struggles. Many devotees perform the puja in Ujjain because it is a city dedicated to Lord Shiva, and they seek his blessings along with relief from the dosh. The pandit takes the sankalp in the devotee's name and sets up the kalash. Ganesh, Shiva and the Navagraha are then invoked with mantras. Shani and Ketu are offered an abhishek with milk and water. The ritual closes with the purnahuti, after which the devotee receives the blessings of Shani and Ketu.
Devotees believe it brings the blessings of Shani and Ketu It is traditionally performed to ease obstacles in life It is said to offer protection from the effects of Shrapit Dosh Devotees believe it helps bring a calm mind and steadiness It is also associated with prosperity and good fortune
