Navagraha Mantra Jaap And Havan In Varanasi

About this puja

Navagraha mantra jaap and homam for the nine planetary deities, held in Varanasi at Mahamrityunjay Mahadev Temple or Batuk Bhairav Temple.

This Vedic ritual honours the nine planetary deities. They are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangal, Budh, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. Vedic astrology holds that these planets touch career, marriage and finances. Chanting the Navagraha mantras is traditionally done to ease planetary doshas. It is held at Shri Mahamrityunjay Mahadev Temple or Shri Batuk Bhairav Temple in Varanasi. The puja goes in six steps. It opens with Gauri Ganesh Pujan, then Shodashopachar Pujan with sixteen offerings, and Kalash Pujan. Navagraha Pujan follows, in which all nine planets are worshipped. Priests then chant the Beej (Mool) Mantras of the nine planets. The puja ends with a Navagraha Havan (Homam), with offerings into the sacred fire as the mantras are recited. Devotees may attend in person, or take part online from far away.

Why devotees perform it

Believed to ease the harmful effects of unfavourable planetary positions and bring balance. Devotees believe it helps with hurdles in career, business, education, marriage and finance. Said to support peace of mind, confidence and emotional stability. Traditionally done for relationships and prosperity, and to ease delays tied to planetary doshas. Regular worship of the Navagraha is held to nurture spiritual growth and bring blessings for the individual and family.
