Overview

Annapurna Devi Mandir stands in the holy city of Varanasi. It is dedicated to Annapurna, whom Hindus revere as the goddess of food and nourishment. The shrine holds two idols of the Devi, one made of gold and one of brass. The brass idol is open for darshan every day. The golden idol is shown to devotees only once a year. Crowds gather in large numbers for Annakoot, which is celebrated each year after Diwali.
