History

Rinmukteshwar Mahadev, on the banks of the Shipra, is visited by devotees seeking release from debts of every kind, financial as well as pitra rin, dev rin and guru rin. Lord Shiva is worshipped here under a tree. Legend says King Harishchandra worshipped Shiva here and was freed from his debt, and that Lord Krishna recited the Shiva Sahasranamavali to Sudama at this spot. Saturdays are special: devotees offer yellow items such as chana dal, turmeric, jaggery and yellow flowers, with mantra chanting. Shravan month and Mahashivratri bring the largest crowds.
